How to extract data from Google Maps?
Introduction
Extracting business data from Google Maps can be a valuable resource for lead generation, market research, and business development. GMapLeads makes this process simple and efficient. This guide will walk you through the process of using GMapLeads to extract business information from Google Maps.
Getting Started
1. Install the Extension
First, install GMapLeads on your browser. For Chrome, you can install it locally; for Edge, install it from the Edge Add-ons Store. Once installed, you'll see the GMapLeads icon in your browser's extension toolbar.
2. Create an Account
Click the extension icon and then click the "Sign in with Google" button to create a free account. This allows you to start extracting data immediately with our free plan, which includes basic business information and phone numbers. You can check all supported data fields here.
Basic Extraction
1. Navigate to Google Maps
After signing in, click the "Open Google Maps" button to navigate to the Google Maps website.
2. Search for some keywords to start
After navigating to Google Maps, our application overlay window will appear. Enter business keywords you're interested in into the top search input box, such as "hotels in Los Angeles" or "restaurants in Paris". Then, click the search button to prepare for extraction.
3. Start Extraction
Click the "Start Extracting" button from our application overlay window. The tool will automatically start collecting data from the visible search results. By the way, our application overlay window is draggable; you can move it if it obstructs the content below.
4. Download Results
Once extraction is complete, you can download the results in CSV or XLSX format according to your settings. The data includes business names, addresses, phone numbers, and more depending on your plan.
Settings
Select export format
Before starting an extraction, you can select the export format. The CSV format offers universal compatibility, while the XLSX format provides enhanced Excel formatting.
Customize data fields
GMapLeads allows you to customize which data fields to extract. Available fields include business names, categories, addresses, phone numbers, emails (paid plans), social media links (paid plans), review ratings, and more. You can check all supported data fields here.
Extract emails from Google Search
By default, we extract emails from the location's website. If this option is enabled, we will also extract emails from Google search if no email is found on the website. This can increase the probability of finding emails. However, it may trigger Google's CAPTCHA challenges, so use this option with caution.
Bulk Extraction
For Elite plan users, our Bulk Extractor feature allows you to automatically extract data from hundreds of searches. It transforms your list of keywords or Google Maps search URLs into a detailed business database with just a few clicks, saving hours of manual work.
Best Practices
To get the most out of GMapLeads, consider these best practices:
- Use specific search terms to get more relevant results.
- Omit the location from your search terms and zoom in on specific areas to get local businesses.
- To scrape more than 120 businesses, omit the location from your search terms. Manually pan and zoom to your desired area, extract, and repeat, or simply use our Bulk Extractor feature.
- Check the extracted data for accuracy before use.
